Our vision

Our diverse and competent team hosts a broad range of professional qualifications and experience in various fields. This enables our team to approach equine sports within a holistic manner anchored on values of excellence, trust, team spirit, discipline and responsibility.

We equip our riders with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the sport and are well versed and passionate about training riders at every age, level and discipline. Rose Lane always aims to create a healthy learning environment where both rider and horse have fun and enjoy the equine sport whilst refining their skills and develop a mutually beneficial bond.

Who are we?

The beautiful Rose Lane is situated at the heart of a stunning farm, where horse and rider can relax and take in the tranquil surroundings.

Our family yard built over the last 13 years, allows everyone the opportunity to escape the overwhelming city induced mental and physical pressures and re energize by engaging in the unique attributes offered by the equestrian sport

EQASA Certification:

Rose Lane also runs and EQASA school to equip students to become qualified instructors.

Rose Lane Equestrian Academy:

The Rose Lane Equestrian Academy is open to all equestrians and aims to assist riders and owners to reach their full potential.

Horse Welfare:

The welfare of the horse is our top priority, and we pride ourselves in providing holistic care for every horse in the yard on an individual basis.

Our team is passionate about creating a caring, friendly and informative and no- politics yard.

Our facility offers:

Individual and group full grazing paddocks with beautiful trees for shade.

Large open spaces around the yard on our beautiful farm which helps the horses relax and remain calm in the paddocks. Horses require large spaces to move around in, in their off time, this is where they spend a majority of their time.

Time to relax

Rose Lane also offers a beautiful clubhouse where you can unwind and relax.

Our facilities offers riders safe outrides inside the farm 650ha of space without leaving the property.

Riding School

Coaching with pride

Each and every rider is coached with safety, care and treated as an individual. Our coaches are qualified with internationally recognized EQASA certification.

Our focus is on correct teaching methods, equipping our riders with the knowledge of what we are focusing on and the reasons behind the coaching. this helps the rider mentally to understand then pass this through to the horse.

Beginner lessons

Safety is priority, step by step we coach riders on position, balance and correct seat, then each rider progresses on their own level, all beginner lessons are on an individual basis to ensure our coaches undivided attention on the rider on well-mannered and safe school horses. All ages

Intermediate to Advanced Lessons

Coaching on technique, correctness, improving ability with knowledge and understanding of the job in hand, assisting to create a holistic, empathetic and effective rider, in show jumping, dressage, equitation. New lesson plans weekly including flatwork which is vital for any rider and horse to get the job done well.

Riders are challenged in a safe and educated way to make them a whole picture with the horse.

What we offer inclusive of our riding fees.

We take pride in educating all riders to become whole equestrians, we follow a syllabus for each level and age group, having fun educational afternoons and days, where riders can make new friends while learning all about horses and riding and parents get to know each other.

We have Shows throughout the year for the riders have fun and show their families their progress, Awards evening and social events.

Rose Lane Academy

The first of its kind in South Africa

Is a membership-based platform which aims at hosting 6 clinics annually. The goal is to share knowledge for riders, horses and owners covering a variety of subjects with carefully curated demos and presentations for members to gain vital knowledge to further develop and refine their skillsets.

The academy aims to enhance the riding experience through deepening of awareness of the horse-rider partnership, harmony and understanding the value of respect, trust, kindness and empathy between horse and rider.

Who are the clinics aimed at?

Everyone despite the discipline, level and whether competitive or not. Each team coach is equipped with effective practical professional backgrounds and experience to aid riders in developing "the full picture" of the equine sport.

Riders can expect a deepened understanding of horse behaviour and conditioning, how to ride correctly, mental preparedness, the wellbeing of the horse and so much more.

Rose Lane Equestrian Academy aims to ensure that your personal journey takes into account your individual needs as a rider and or horse owner, whether it be shortfalls or enhancements of your skills. Whatever your needs, we are here to guide you through individual sessions with the relevant expertise and coaching.

Equine Behaviour Coach: How to communicate and understand your horse, how horses learn, what signals are they showing for us to speak horse. To build a positive willing horse through understanding, how we can affect our horse's ability to understand what we are asking them to do.

Technical Coach: How does your horses body work, biomechanics of the top-line, what is the most efficient frame for the horse, modern science-based schooling, what to look for and how to get there in a kind and humane way. Understand the science behind your riding and how you affect your horse's ability.

Fitness Coach: understanding the importance of rider fitness and symmetry, how does it affect my body when riding including the effects it has on our horses, prevention of injuries. Body awareness.

Competitive Coach: Conditioning your horse to perform with ease, up their ability through the basis of correct methodology, horse fitness, balance, enhancing your training program with purpose.

Mental Coach: understanding how your brain reacts to certain situations, training your brain how to achieve goals, how to control your reactions in a stressful or competitive environment, to perform mindfully and building mental strength.

How does it work

All our lecture presentations and demonstrations are science based, the coaches work together with one goal, to develop harmony, understanding of the horse and rider through knowledge to help each and every rider, owner, equestrian and young coaches to improve their ability holistically and intelligently into their journey in the equestrian world.

Rose Lane Equestrian Academy is an annual membership subscription, which will provide you access to various discounts and bundles to choose from, including a membership sign up package.

You owe it to yourself and your horse to be the best you can be.

After much interest form our younger equestrians, Rose Lane Equestrian Academy is proud to include a Junior Academy for Junior riders ages 12 to 18 on the same basis and principles of the Equestrian academy on an age-appropriate level for teenagers.

Rose Lane offers courses to train and qualify as EQASA level 1 instructors

A full comprehensive program for student, academically and practically to prepare student for exams
Our program is aimed to prepare all student to become a whole and better person to excel in their future career as equestrian instructors and coaches.

Correspondence via zoom is also available for students that are already working in the industry to become qualified.

We follow the EQASA syllabus and have added in a few more subject contents to prepare them with as much knowledge as possible.

EQASA is the only recognized qualification in South Africa and recognized by SAQA and the NQF

Meet the Team

Liesl Mc Gee

Liesl is highly experienced in competing in dressage, show jumping (open level) and equitation, a qualified EQASA coach, she has produced award winning riders in the higher grades, having been coach up the grades by SA's top coaches has equipped her not only to coach but to expand the knowledge of her riders. Her years of experience of teaching all levels is invaluable to Rose Lane Students, her kind way of schooling horses shows. Teaching from beginners to advanced riders in improving all aspects of their riding. Liesl Also has SAEF Gauteng colours in Dressage, show jumping and Equitation

Jordan Foley

Jordan has a talent for coaching all riders, from nervous adults to young children, producing competent and knowledgeable riders through coaching up to date principles and helping her riders to understand why and how to ride correctly with compassion. An EQASA qualified assistant coach, with years of experience. She has competed in dressage and show jumping and produced horses. Through her lifelong experience with horses from a young age she is able to pass this on to her students.

Jen Clarke

Jen schools and produces young horses for a well know stud and teaches in the afternoons. She has a wealth of experience competing successfully in dressage and showing. Her empathetic, kind yet effective way of teaching horse and rider with correct methods, has produced good result amongst her students who have competed with success.

Mira Groenewald

Mira has competed successfully and is an award-winning rider in Show Jumping, Equitation, Dressage Eventing and Showing with Sanesa Gauteng colours in all her disciplines, including Saef Gauteng colours in Showing. Mira has a degree in Phycology which is an asset when it comes to her teaching riders with understanding. Her vast competitive experience in the higher grades has given her a wealth of knowledge to pass onto her student.
